G.H.S. Students Receive All-Region Band Honors

— Three members of the Gravette High School band were recently selected to be a part of two high school All-Region bands.

The three, seniors Kaitlyn Albright (clarinet) and Jesse Owens (percussion) and junior Daniel Poemoceah (percussion) were selected for the honor following All-Region band tryouts held in Springdale and Huntsville.

About 600 band students from northwest Arkansas participated in the competition, according to Mike Johnson, GHS band director.

Johnson explained. “Through a rigorous selection process, these bands are comprised of the best high school wind instrument and percussion musicians in northwest Arkansas regardless of school size.”

Following their selection, the students attended rehearsal sessions with guest conductors from outside the region and then participated in concerts held January 23 at Springdale High School.

“These students are to be congratulated for their hard work and achievement,” Johnson said.
