Girls beat Pea Ridge

— After a tough week and losses to Shiloh Christian and Prairie Grove, the Lady Pioneers came away from Pea Ridge Saturday with a 55-45 win.

The Gentry girls, led by the shooting of Kendra Boyd and Kelsea Whitten, pulled ahead of Pea Ridge in the first quarter, finishing it with a 13-10 lead.

The girls built on that lead in the second andthird quarters, entering the fourth with a 40-28 lead. Pea ridge attempted a comeback in the fourth, scoring 17 points to Gentry’s 15, but it wasn’t enough.

Boyd picked up 13 points in the game, including two three-pointers. Whitten added 12 points shooting at 40 percent in the game.

Gentry 46, Pea Ridge 58

The Gentry boys didn’t fare as well as the girls, picking up their third lossfor the week, against Pea Ridge on Saturday.

Though the Pioneers started off well and were up by a score of 26-24 at the half, they were held to only six points in the third quarter while Pea Ridge ran away with the game, scoring 24.

The boys attempted a comeback in the fourth and picked up 14 points to 10 for Pea Ridge, but the last-quarter surge couldn’t make up for the gains Pea Ridge picked up in the third.
