GENTRY — Handicap parking at the Gentry Senior Activity Center has been a problem, according to information the center’s manager, Jackie Bader, provided to the city council at its Feb. 1 meeting.
Bader said the SAC parking lot was full of potholes and needed to be graded and also requested that the city provide at least two handicap parking spots for the senior center andmark them for exclusive use by the center.
Her request came as a result of spaces near the front of the center being filled on court days and disabled senior citizens having no place to park to get into the activity center.
One senior, Bader said, just sat in his car in the lot and waited for a parking spot to come open so that he could come inside the center.
Gentry Mayor Wes Hogue said he would get two spots in the parking lot paved and marked for SAC use.
