GRAVETTE — Last Tuesday night was not a good night for the Lions and Lady Lions when Gentry came on strong to win their game at Lion Fieldhouse.
Gentry Lady Pioneers took a 51-43 decision after some three point baskets and dominating the boards during the second half.
The Lady Lions jumped to an 11-9 first quarter lead and trailed by three, 23-20, at halftime. A lopsided third quarter saw the visitors take a 39-28 lead into the final period.
Gravette’s free-throw shooting (they made 21 of 28 at the charity stripe) saw them trim the lead to 48-41 but a win was not to be.
Himsl led the Lady Lions with 10, Newell had 9, Alsup and Bayley 7 apiece, Detring and Nichols 4 apiece and Vanotterloo 2.
Gentry 64 - Lions 32
In the boys action Gravette kept close, 17-13, at the end of the first period but the Pioneers took a 31-21 lead to the locker room.
The Lions were unable to mount an offensive during the next two periods as Gentry outscored them 23-8 in the third quarter and 10-2 as the game wound down to the 64-32 final.
Montee led the Lions with 11 points, Daniels had 8, Hendren 6, McGarrah 4, Graham 2 and O’Brien 1.
