LETTER TO THE EDITOR - DECATUR, GENTRY

— First off, let me say thank you for all the coverage on Decatur, it’s great to see what everyone’s been doing.

Your most recent material in “Griz Bear Comments” was a refreshing sight to see. I had no clue you had once driven a rig. I have always wanted to drive one, but my eye sight was never good enough.

It also tickled me to have the privilege of reading some of your poetry as well.

“History’s Lessons” left me to ponder, what a grand message if only we’d all take in what knowledge we’ve learned and applied it to our daily lives. “Late Fall Trees” was another poem I enjoyed, refreshing and blissful indeed with sharp imagery for such a small piece, but “Wayfarers Prayer,” I must say, was what I thought the best. Your word placement in the style of days so long ago really made the whole piece come out nicely. It seemed to me, just by the flow, this one came quite naturally.

Hmmm, I’d say “some truckers” could be poets. You have proved that, my friend, and I’d love to see more if you’d like to share, or maybe perhaps you could attend one of the meetings in Decatur and be a guest speaker? I don’t know, “Can truckers be guest speakers for a poetry group?” You decide.
