Students, Parents Conferences Aid Classes Planning

— Annual CAP conferences with students and parents were held Tuesday, February 9, at Gravette High School. This is a step in the scheduling process when plans can be made for next year’s classes.

“The goal of CAP is for parents to have input and be able to advise their child through their high school academic career,” said Jo Ellen Hastings, principal.

“Once the course request sheets have been scanned and processed, a master class schedule can be created from the student’s request,” she explained. “Thisprocess allows the administrating and counseling staff to know the number of students and therefore the number of classes to offer in each subject area for the next school year.”

Due to weather and road conditions, CAP attendance was down this year. Only 61% of the ninth through eleventh grade parents attended on CAP conference day.

If parents and students were unable to attend, those students completed their course request sheets the following Thursday, February 11, Hastings said.
