Dear Editor,

Glenn Duffy Elementary would like to thank all of the parents who attended Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 9. Despite the cold temperatures and snowy weather, we had a 95% turnout.

We would also like to thank all of the volunteers who help support the staff here at GDE. There are many parents, grandparents and community members who help us out with various tasks. The teachers at GDE really appreciate these efforts made so more of their time can be devoted to preparing for instruction. If anyone is interested in becoming a Volunteer of the Day, please contact Faith Hendricks for questions at 479-787-4129.

Glenn Duffy Elementary will also host a Scholastic Book Fair on February 22-26 to help raise funds to purchase books for children, classroom libraries and the Media Center.

Families, teachers and the community are invited to attend the Book Fair, featuring a fun theme: Book Fair Diner: All Can Read! The “Grand Event” will be held on Wednesday, February 24, from 11 to 12:30 where students are encouraged to invite someone “grand” to eat lunch with them and attend the book fair.

The Book Fair will offer specially priced books and educational products, including new releases, award-winning titles, children’s classics, interactive software, adult books and current bestsellers from more than 100 publishers.
