GENTRY — Chamber Awards

Gentry Chamber of Commerce 2009 Awards Banquet is set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 25, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant in Gentry. Community awards, along with the Lifetime Achievement Awards and honors for Arkansas’ Farm Family of the Year winners Bill and Delia Haak, will be presented following the dinner. Class of 1910 Photos and Information

Anyone with old photographs or information about living relatives of graduating students from the Gentry High School Class of 1910 is asked to contact Martha Hawkins at the Gentry High School Library, or call her at 736-2667. The information is needed in preparation for the centennial graduating class this year.

GHS Athletic Booster Club

The Gentry High School Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., March 8, in the high school’s home economics class room.

Talbot Library and Museum Book Fair

Talbot Library and Museum, 500 S. Colcord Ave, Colcord, Okla., will be hosting a book fair with surplus books for sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13. Hundreds of old and new books - genealogy, local history, Cherokee research, county and family histories from many states will be offered. Some books are one- copy-only, rare and collectible. Bible talks

Sunday afternoon Bible talks will be held at the Community Room in the Gentry Public Library at 4 p.m. The non-denominational talks are open to all. For more information, call Paul Eisler at 640-8610.

Gentry City Council

The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month. The Gentry Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Gentry School Board

The Gentry School Board holds regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the school district board room. A special board meeting is set for 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Springtown Council

The Springtown Council meets at 6 p.m., on the second Tuesday of each month, in the new community building.

Town of Highfill

Highfill’s next council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, at the Highfill Community Building. The planning commission meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Book signing and speaker

A brown-bag “Books Sandwiched In” speaking and book signing event is set to be held at Gentry Public Library at 12 noon on Monday, March 15. Terrye Robins, author of Christian-fiction novels “Trouble in Paradise,” “Revenge in Paradise,” and the newlyreleased “Justice in Paradise,” will be the speaker at the special event. She’ll also have signed copies of her three books available for purchase.Those attending will need to bring a lunch. The library will provide drinks and dessert.
