— Last Week

Have you learned to write 2010 yet?

My granddaughter Lamarise Carrier and I spent a couple of days in Arlington, TX, visiting my son Wade and family this week.

As I was unable to get out of my driveway on Sunday my son Ward came and got me to have lunch with the family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier. Others enjoying it were Mr. and Mrs. Lofty Carrier and Lamarise, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carrier, Jason Ruopp, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brooks and Brittany Hegwood.

How many snows does it take to make a winter anyway? I’m ready for spring.

Marlo Hamilton spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton.

Several members and friends enjoyed a New Year’s Eve get-together at the Nazarene Church.

Amanda Hamilton’s parents from Ada, OK, spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Robert Paul, Amanda and children.

January 6, 1912, New Mexico became the 47th state.

This Week

I apologize for no news last week. The snow made me unable to get up my driveway to get to town.

We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Bunch, newowners of the Hiwasse Country Store.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Ronnie Davidson. Ronnie was a Gravette boy but well-known here as a lot of us had gone to school with him.

Mr. and Mrs. Lytle Carlton went to Gravette Saturday to see their granddaughter, Autumn Gregg, play basketball for Farmington.

The weather has been such that people have only been getting out for the essential things. I still can’t get out of my driveway but I have hopes of being able to send this into town.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Lola Burns Spencer who passed away this week. Lola was raised in the Hiwasse/Mt. Pleasant area.

It was good to see Joan Lowe back in church following her back surgery.

Rick Banks and Larry Keith are on our sick list.

Ward and Paula Carrier hosted lunch to help their grandson Zack celebrate his seventh birthday. Others helping him celebrate were his dad Mike Carrier, sister Alyssa, brother Gabe Carrier, uncle Brian and aunt Diane Carrier, uncle Tom and aunt Amy Brooks, Grandma Carrier and Brittany Hegwood.

January 13 is traditionally the coldest day of the year.
