— Laurel M. Alberts

Laurel M. Alberts, 76, of Springtown, died Jan. 13, 2010, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla.

She was born July 31, 1933, near Spavinaw, Okla., to Loyd and Ada Platts Corbitt. She was a bookkeeper for Skelly Oil in Tulsa, Okla., and also worked for Franklin Electric and La-Z- Boy.

Survivors include one sister.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were byWasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

William Harold Sooter

William Harold Sooter, 64, of Colcord, Okla., died Jan. 14, 2010, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 15, 1945, in Bentonville to William Russell and Faye Lucille Rakes Sooter. He was director of emergency management in Colcord and assistant director of the Southern End of Delaware County Emergency Management.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy; one daughter, Anita Louise Jones of Colcord; one son, Justin Wade Sooter of the home; one brother; one sister; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Colcord Community Center. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Lola Spencer

Lola Spencer, 75, of Bentonville, died Jan. 8, 2010 in Gravette.

She was born March 27, 1934, in Scranton, N.D., to Roy and Ravina Frietag Burns. She worked for Mohawk Industries for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Spencer.

She is survived by a daughter, Nicki Parker of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, Glen Burns of Gentry; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were Friday at the Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville, with the John Goss officiating. Burial was at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse.

Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home.

Glenn Duffy, Sr.

Glenn Albert Duffy, 91, of Gravette died Jan. 13, 2010, at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born in Rochester, Minn., the son of Bill and Ella House Duffy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was a first lieutenant in the Ninth Army, 17th Calvary Reconnaissance squadron. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action in Germany when he “crawled along a ditch to a point near an enemy stronghold, enabling a large American infantry and tank task force to continue its advance.”

Following discharge from the Army, he received his master’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas and served as superintendent of schools in Gravette for 29 years and owned and operated Duffield’s of Gravette following his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gravette, the American Legion and the Gravette Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by Lereta, his wife of 67 years; and a sister, Nora Best.

He is survived by sons, Glenn Duffy, Jr., and wife Betty of Gravette, and Michael Duffy of Atlanta; daughter, Mary Pat Duffy of Tulsa, Okla.; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were Monday at the First Baptist Church in Gravette, officiated by Glynn Bertrand and Dan Fagala. Internment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Gravette.

Max E. Lough

Max E. Lough, 69 of Cody, Wyo., died Jan. 12 at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1940 in Lanagan, Mo., to Hood G. and Ruby Truitt Lough. He graduated from Rogers High School in the class of 1958. He worked in the funeral service for 42 years and was co-owner of Callison-Lough Funeral Home for 18 years before retiring and moving to Cody. He was a member of the Cody Elks Lodge, Northwest Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Max E. Lough, II.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lough, of the home; two daughters, Terri Lough Harkins and Toni Lough, both of Rogers; one sister; Janeece Smith of Cody; and four grandchildren.

Funeral Service were Jan. 19 at the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers with N. Wayne Clark officiating. Burial was in the Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers.
