Lions Lead But Lose To Shiloh

— Morgan Bayley’s 3-pointer late in the first quarter was the Lady Lions’ only first quarter score as Shiloh Christian ladies led 16-3 at the start of the second quarter last Friday night. Shiloh hounded Gravette at the game in Springdale and forced 24 turnovers in a 61-38 victory. The score was 34-15 at the start of the second half.

“We definitely struggled (against the Shiloh’s press),” said Gravette Coach Duane Thomas. “We just couldn’t get anything going early. On our first 10 possessions we had seven turnovers and three missed shots.”

The teams were even in the third quarter and the Lady Lions were close in the final quarter but were unable to overcome the Shiloh lead.

Scoring for Gravette were Bayley and Nichols with 10 each, Vanotterloo with 6, Detring and Himsl 5 each and Waltrip 2.

Lions 36, Shiloh 54

In the Lions game, Gravette led twice early in the game on two threepointers by Cody Montee but dropped behind 26-18 going into the dressing room.

Shiloh had a run in the third quarter to up their lead to 45-26 and put the game away for a 54-36 win.

Montee led Gravette scorers with 13 points; Mc-Garrah and O’Brien each had 6, Daniels 4, Davis, Hendren and Strzelecki 2 each and Alexander 1.
