PAWS Students Recognized

— Students at Glenn Duffy Elementary who have been named PAWS (”Pawsitive” and Wise) students for January are, Ronnie Thompson, Aliyeah Giordano, Jimmy Duncan, Emma Foster, Tanner Martin and Jacob Williams.

The PAWS program incorporates character education into the school community. Each month a PAWS skill is chosen and discussed in classroom guidance in relation to character education, explained Zane Vanderpool, principal. Students practicethe character word “effort” in January. “This is a great word to study after being on an extended break, “he added.

PAWS awards are given in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, etc., as an incentive for students to practice the PAWS skill for the month. Students are recognized at Rise and Shine Assemblies.

The Glenn Duffy Parent-Teacher Organization also awards t-shirts to the students of the month.
