Program Announced Concerning Preservation Of Historic Properties

— Arkansas Historic Preservation Program historians will be in Benton County during the week of January 25 seeking historic properties associated with city services to the public, AHPP Director Frances McSwain announced.

“The quality of life of many of our Arkansas towns is directly associated with the services provided by our municipal governments,” McSwain said. “We plan to document suchresources as city halls, fire and police stations, jails, community centers and swimming pools dating from 1960 and before.”

The AHPP historians will photograph and document the properties and later determine which of them may be eligible for recognition on the National Register of Historic Places. For more information write the AHPP at 1500Tower Building, 323 Center St., Little Rock, AR 72201 or call the agency at (501) 324-9787.
