Wednesday, January 27, 2010

— Gravette City Council will meet this Thursday, January 28, at 7 p.m. at the Gravette Civic Center. Among the items on the agenda will be final consideration of the 2010 city budget.

Mayor Bill Howard said the Council has been tweaking the document during the last couple of months. Its’ passage is required by state law.

The Council has been taking into account the economic climate of the nation which also affects city revenues. No major changes are expected in thebudget document from the current year’s figures which have involved several adjustments during the past 12 months.

Also on the agenda is consideration of an amendment to Ordinance 08-06 which sets water rates for the city. The original ordinance sets rates for water consumption. The amendment does not change those figures but rather clarifies wordage of that original document, Howard emphasized.

Also for consideration will be a recommendation by Mayor Howard that thecity complete the purchase of the City Hall building from Arvest Bank. He is recommending funds, approximately $210,000 in a capital improvement account, be used to complete the purchase.

This will free the $800 per month payment the city is making toward the building’s purchase for use for other city services, he indicated.

No unfinished business topics are included on the meeting agenda. A Committee of the Whole report is also expected to be presented.
