Colors Day ceremonies held

DECATUR — What follows is the Decatur High School’s 2010 Colors Day Court, as presented during Friday’s ceremonies.

Sophomore maid Kourtnee Funk is the daughter of Leonard and Melissa Funk. She is involved in drill team dance, Dazzle’em Dance Studio, FFA and basketball. After high school, she plans to attend college to become an obstetrician or a pediatrician. Kourtnee was escorted by her father and junior Blake Wilkins.

Blake Wilkins is the son of Bryan and Reta Wilkins. He is involved in basketball, baseball, football, track and FFA.

Sophomore maid Fatima Yareli Vazquez is the daughter of Gerardo and Gloria Vazquez. She is involved in soccer, student council, her church youth group and enjoys hanging out with her best friend Kassandra. After high school, Fatima plans to attend college. She was escorted by her father and sophomore Yuephang Vang.

Yuephang Vang is the son of Shuekong Meng Vang and Boun Thao. He is involved in basketball, soccer, student council, FBLA and FCCLA. After high school, he plans to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and major in business.

Junior maid Brittany Booth is the daughter of Bennett and Rena Booth. She is a member of the basketball team and also enjoys shopping and hanging out with Shelby. After high school, Brittany plans to attend college and get a degree in teaching. Brittany was escorted by her father and senior Shelby Ellison.

Shelby Ellison is the son of Harold and Kayla Ellison. He played football and is involved in track, basketball and also enjoys hanging out with Brittany. After high school, Shelby plans to go to college to play football and get a degree in teaching and coaching.

Junior maid Sammy Jo Thompson is the daughter of Mark Thompson and Donna Vann. She is a member of the basketball team and student council. After high school, Sammy plans to go to college and major in nursing. She was escorted by her father and junior Brady Graves.

Brady Graves is the son of Leonard Funk and Melissa Graves. He is involved in basketball, football, baseball, track and FFA. After high school, Brady plans to go to college.

Senior maid Kassie Carlson is the daughter of Eldon and Debra Carlson. She is involved in basketball, softball, and also enjoys swimming, shopping and hanging out with friends. After high school, she plans to finish cosmetology school, go to college and open her own beauty salon. She was escorted by her father Eldon Carlson and junior Josh Doud.

Josh Doud is the son of Brian and Suzie Kley. He is involved in football, basketball, track and FFA.

Senior maid Kimmy Nelson is the daughter of Walter and Christina Nelson. She is involved in basketball, softball, student council, FBLA, FCCLA, FCA and is the senior class vice-president. She also enjoys texting and hanging out with her boyfriend Byrdman. After high school, she plans to attend college and hopefully play basketball. Kimmy was escorted by her father and senior Trent Arnold.

Trent Arnold is the son of Roy and Becky Arnold. He is involved in basketball, baseball, track and football. After high school, Trent plans to go to college.

Senior maid Carmen Layne Vaughn is the daughter of Cheryl Vaughn, Mike Lowe, Bryan Gregory and Crystal Gregory. She is involved in soccer and also enjoys working with her horse, hanging out with friends and working out for physical training.

After high school, Carmen plans to join the Marines - boot camp starts July 26. She was escorted by her father and sophomore Joe Castaneda.

Joe Castaneda is the son of Ignocio and Norma Castaneda. He is involved in track, soccer, basketball, football and student council. After high school, Joe plans to attend the University of Arkansas to become a dentist.

Senior maid Tiffany Lynn Wright is the daughter of Bill and Lora Wright. She is president of FBLA, vicepresident of FCCLA and is also involved in FCA, basketball and softball. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking on the grill andfishing. After high school, Tiffany plans to attend the Northwest Arkansas Community College and become a preschool teacher. Tiffany was escorted by her father and senior Hunter Beal.

Hunter Beal is the son of Bob and Peggy Beal. He is involved in basketball and baseball and enjoys hanging out with friends. After high school, Hunter plans to attend college and play baseball and become a coach or physical therapist.

Crown bearer Marlee Ann Kinder is the daughter of Steven and Jennifer Kinder. She enjoys going to the beach and the park, artwork, swimming, singing and dancing. When Marlee grows up, she would like to be a vet or a ballerina.

Basketball bearer Kaden Thompson is the son of Justin and Jennifer Thompson. He enjoys playing golf in the yard with his dad,playing catch and hunting deer. When Kaden grows up, he would like to be a football player.

Kaden and Marlee were escorted by junior Mitchell Nelson and senior Eric Thompson. Mitchell is the son of Mark and Christine Nelson. He is a member of the basketball team and is also involved in ACE. Afterhigh school, Mitchell plans on going to the University of Arkansas.

Eric is the son of Mark Thompson and Donna Vann. He is a member of the basketball and baseball teams and also enjoys hanging out with friends. After high school, Eric plans to attend NSU and major in business.
