PEA RIDGE — A “safe room” is one step closer for the Pea Ridge School District with the approval of $679,500 in funding coming from the U. S. Dept. of Homeland Security FEMA grant.
The building, which is to be tornado safe, will be built on the property south of the high school and may be used by the community.
Safe rooms have been constructed or are under consideration in other Arkansas schools. Pea Ridge was the only one recently funded for Northwest Arkansas by FEMA.
