Local Students Are Missionaries To New Guinea

— Two local school kids have gone global. Lawrance and Christy (Page) Doyle graduated from Gravette Holiness Bible School in 1999 and 1998 and are now in the Pacific nation of Papua New Guinea. They will be translating the Bible for one or more of the over 800 languages in that country.

Larry grew up in Gravette and Sulphur Springs. He attended GHBS from kindergarten through twelfth grade and was heavily involved in music, art and student leadership. After graduating at the top of his class he went on to college at Kansas City College & Bible School, majoring in missions. In the past seven years since earning his degree, he has studied linguistics at the University of North Dakota, completed a two year internship in Papua New Guinea and married Christy.

Christy grew up in the Jay, OK, area and attended Jay Public Schools through her tenth grade year. Her final two years of high school were completed at GHBS, where she met Larry. They were not exactly high school sweethearts but they did get acquainted. After graduation she returned to GHBS as part of the teaching staff for three years. For the past eight years she has lived in the Kansas City area where she has attended college. In 2007 she married Larry and in September of 2009 Lawrance II was born. Since that time she has been a full-time mother.

Both Larry and Christy are under the Church of God (Holiness) department of world missions in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Their plans are to be involved in Bible translation as a long-term career.
