— The following stories appeared in the Gravette News Herald, July 14, 1960:

Jon Provost, who was “Timmy” in the Lassie TV program, was in town and visited two days with Hugo Hammond and Hugo’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hammond.

A picture of Provost and Joey Bowman, taken by Bill Bowman, was on the front page.

The Christian Church was planning a watermelon feed Saturday afternoon. Everybody was invited.

Residents of the Mt. Olive area formed an improvement association for the purpose of getting a hard surface road. Perry Phillips was president; Jim Durkee, secretary.

Helen and Ernestine Tucker and Sue Lukens, Maysville 4-H members, had promised to weedthe flowers at the three churches in that community.

Enumeration at the Gravette school last year was 664; Gentry, 701;

Decatur, 339 and County District (Sulphur Springs and Pea Ridge), 514, according to Henry Wood, County Superintendent.

Assets at the Bank of Gravett totaled $2,566,513.51.

Nease Tractor and Implement Co. in Gravette was dealer for International Trucks. “See us about trucks”.

An estimated 7,000 people thronged to Noel over the Fourth weekend.

Sulphur baseball team took games from Anderson and Pineville in the park at Sulphur.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe McAllister attended market in Kansas City.
