Area Author To Be At Library

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

— A well-known area author and feature writer will hold a book signing in Gravette for her latest books, “The Boston Mountains: Lost in the Ozarks” and “Arkansas Meals and Memories: Lift Your Eyes to the Mountains”.

Velda Brotherton lives in Washington County, about 15 miles from where she was born, and these latest books are historical in nature and will resonate with area readers.

She writes a weekly Ozark historical column in the Elkins “White River Valley News”.

Brotherton conducted interviews for more than 20 years to compile historical data about the Arkansas Ozarks in the “Boston Mountains” volume. The “Arkansas Meals....” contains 160 authentic Ozark recipes including an unusual wedding cake and a 200-year-old gingerbread recipe. Many use local products such as persimmons, May apples and elderberries.

The author will be at the Gravette Public Library Thursday, August 6, from two to three in the afternoon. Persons interested are invited to meet her.
