— The son of a Siloam Springs businessman was killed Tuesday night, July 13, in a plane crash about 45 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas.

Casey Brinegar of Arlington, Texas, was in a Beechcraft Bonanza C33 when it crashed in a hay field near Tolar, Texas, at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Lynn Lunsford, spokesman for Federal Aviation Administration.

“The plane crashed for unknown reasons,” Lunsford said.

Brinegar, who was 26, died at the scene.

He was the son of Kerry Brinegar of Kerry’s Paint & Body at 1019 E. Main St. in Siloam Springs.

The 1964 single-engine airplane that crashed was registered to Kerry Brinegar. It was assigned tail number N5827S.

Casey Brinegar was a flight instructor and a private pilot, Lunsford said.

It’s uncertain whether he was flying for pleasure or training someone to fly while in the air before the crash.

The take off point likely was from the Arlington airport, but that’s also uncertain.

Two men from India also were on board when the plane crashed.

One was killed in the crash, and the other later died at a hospital in Fort Worth.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
