Cody Carnahan

Cody Carroll Carnahan, 20, of Sulphur Springs, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born November 20, 1989, in Gravette, the son of Rickey Carnahan and Jodi Stimson.

Mr. Carnahan attended Gravette schools an graduated from Gravette High School in 2008. He was an auto body repairman.

Survivors include his father, Rickey Carnahan of Sulphur Springs; his mother, Jodi, of Decatur;

his daughter, Lexie Marie Kier of Gravette; and two sisters, Kimberly Auffet of Decatur and Amanda Carnahan of Jay, OK.

Visitation will be this Wednesday, July 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Benton County Fairgrounds auditorium in Vaughn. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Jheri Roberts officiating.

Burial will be at Dow Cemetery west of Gravette under direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service.

Ayden Holcombe

Ayden Brooke Holcombe, 2, of Jay, OK, died July 13, 2010, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born August 6, 2007, at Siloam Springs, the daughter of Aaron and Tammie Dilbeck Holcombe.

Survivors include her parents; a brother, Aaron Caleb Holcombe; and a sister, Ashley Holcombe, of the home.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Mt. Herman Church near Jay with burial at Ward Cemetery under direction of Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Glenda Murray

Glenda Kay Murray, 52, of Gravette, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at her home in Gravette. She was born November 10, 1957, in Sumter, S.C., the daughter of Lacey Aaron Crossno and Cornelia Elizabeth Thompson.

She graduated from high school in Charleston, S.C.

and married David Murray on November 10, 1987, in Gravette. She was a member of Shepherd’s Chapel in Gravette. She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, David Murray of Gravette; one daughter, Jessica Lynn Murray of Gravette; her mother, Cornelia Thompson of Charleston; one brother, Mikel Thompson of Goose Creek, S.C.; two sisters, Angie Crossno of Charleston and Vicky Turtora of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Shepherd’s Chapel with Pastor Dennis Murray officiating.

Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Jean Johnson Stephens

We regret to inform all those who knew and loved her that Jean Johnson Stephens transitioned from this world unexpectedly on July 11, 2010.

Jean was a loving and beautiful person who made friends easily.

Jean was born January 17, 1934 in Gravette,Arkansas, to Mr. and Mrs. James Hillary Johnson. She graduated from Gravette High School in 1952 and married Glenn Eugene Stephens that same year.

Jean’s marriage to Glenn Eugene included making a permanent residence in Oklahoma City, Okla. where she had many friends.

Jean traveled nationally and internationally supporting her husband’s Major League Baseball career.

Mrs. Stephens personal career was that of a wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked for City Service, the March of Dimes, and as a docent at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. After retirement, Jean lived with her husband in Granbury, Texas, where she was active in the Granbury Opera Guild and many other community groups.

Mrs. Stephens is preceded in death by her parents, Hill and Dora Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Orville and Ellen Stephens; sisterin-law, Treva Yeargin; brothers-in-law, Dick Schilling and Al Rhode.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Glenn Eugene Stephens;

identical twin sister, Joan Rhode; daughters, Robin Stephens and Kim Demopolos; son-in-law, Jim Demopolos; nephew, Doug Schilling;

nieces and their husbands, Niki and Doug Tisdale, Sally and Fred Diederich; and Sassy, her loving pet.

A memorial service in Jean’s honor will be held at the Granbury First Christian Church, time to be announced.
