ATV Rodeo

An ATV Rodeo will be held on June 12 on the cityowned property near Ivan Road. The rodeo will include pull events, pro, amateur and kids barrel races, a mud pit, and kid's games. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and events begin at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. Entry fees are $6 per event or three for $15. For more information, call 752-3912.

Soccer Fund-raiser

The Decatur High School soccer team will be holding a car wash to raise money for new uniforms starting at 9 a.m., June 5 in the T-N-T Express parking lot. Coach James Garner said after four years, the uniforms are tattered, torn and stained and the team members are working to raise money for their own personalized uniforms. Summer Vacation

June 4 will be the last day of school at Decatur Public Schools.

Fishing Derby

The Seventh Annual Community Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 12, at Crystal Lake. Registration will be from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the derby will be from 9 a.m. until noon. There will be five age divisions for children age 1 through 14. Each child will get a prize and the event will include games and a picnic lunch. Memorial Day Flowers and Flags

Memorial Day Flowers placed at the Decatur City Cemetery will be allowed to remain 14 days after the holiday. Flowers will then be removed and recycled unless they are attached directly to the grave stone. Flags have been placed on the graves of veterans for the Memorial Day holiday. If a friend or family member notices a veteran that did not get a flag, they are asked to call 752-3912 to update the city records.

Elementary School Awards

The Northside Elementary School’s year-end awards ceremony will be held on June 4. Students in first and second grades will be recognized at 8:30 a.m., and students in third, fourth and fifth grades will be recognized at 9:30 a.m. Parents and family members are invited to attend.

Meet the Superintendent Night

The Decatur School District will introduce Larry Ben and say good-bye to LeRoy Ortman at a special event planned for 5:30 p.m. on June 3. The event will include dinner and will also serve as the June town hall meeting. Parents, students and community members are encouraged to attend.

Kindergarten Graduation

Northside Elementary School’s kindergarten graduation ceremony will be held at 9 a.m., June 3, in the school cafeteria. A pre-kindergarten program will be held at 9:30 a.m., June 2, in the school cafeteria.

Class of 2000 Reunion

Decatur High School Class of 2000 is planning a 10-year reunion this summer. The reunion committee would love for everyone who graduated from Decatur in 2000 to participate in the reunion but needs addresses or contact information for a large portion of the graduates. Creators Cafe

Creators Cafe, a creative writing group, meets from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month and from 11 a.m until 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month in the Iva Jane Peek Library. Activities include reading and writing poetry, discussions of famous poets and their work, challenges, slam and stand up, and contests and prizes. Food Pantry

The Decatur food pantry is open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. The pantry offers free non-perishable food to Decatur residents. The pantry is located at the United Methodist Church in Decatur. Participants need to bring identification showing they have a 72722 ZIP code. For more information, contact the Methodist Church at 752-3551.
