JGT Club Meets At Senior Center

— The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Wednesday, May 26, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with six members and one guest, Charlie Griffin, present.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and led the group in singing “You’re A Grand Old Flag”. Her devotions were reflections on the song “From a Distance” and reading of “A Memorial Day Tribute”.

Roll call was answered by six members: Chia - “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”, Mary - jokes, Susan - “A Senior’s Prayer”, Betty - joke, Jeanne - amusing notes on hospital charts and Eda - a poem, “A Small Cottage Fair”.

Secretary Betty Howard read the minutes of the April meeting and they were approved as read. Mary Griffin read thetreasurer’s report.

There was no old business. New business focused on plans for the June meeting which will be held on the 23rd in Old Town Park. The potluck meal will feature the summer menu of sandwiches, salads, chips and dip, etc. Susan Holland will give the program.

Chia Greer gave the program, playing a tape of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s “The Power of Intention”. Dr. Dyer encourages persons to use the power within themselves to solve problems rather than looking elsewhere. Clear the connection with your source and realize your infinite potential, he says, then nothing can go wrong. “Surround yourself internally with the conditionsyou wish to create. Say, ‘I want to feel good’.” The meeting closed with singing of the doxology. Library manager Kim Schneider joined the group for the potluck meal.
