Brad L. Barrett

Brad L. Barrett, 52, of Carl Junction, Mo., died May 8, 2010, from injuries he sustained in an accident on Highway 171 north of Carl Junction.

He was born July 27, 1957, in Springfield, Mo., to Beverly Rae Woodson and the late Charles Edward Barrett. He was raised in Gentry and lived in the Carl Junction area since 1994.

For more than 29 years he worked as a railroad engineer for both Frisco Railroad (from 1976 until 1989) and Kansas City Southern Railway (from 1994 until his death). He was a member of Teamsters Union; Carl Junction Lodge No. 526, AF & AM; and BLET No. 527.

He enjoyed drawing and making leather goods and kept busy working in his yard. He had a pilot’s license and loved to fly. He married Rita Kay Remington on Dec. 6, 1995.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, John T. Ogle of Carthage, Mo.; one daughter, Rinda K. Robinson of Carl Junction; his mother, Beverly Clark of Carthage; two sisters, Bonnie Henry and her husband John of Rogers, and Mary Beth Guzman and her husband Tony of St. John, Kan.; one brother, Mike Barrett and his wife Jana of Gentry;

and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 12 at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bob Simon officiating. Masonic rites were cited at the service. Interment followed at Avilla Cemetery, Avilla, Mo.

Arrangements were by Parker Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.

Evelyn Lakey Honderich

Evelyn Lakey Honderich, 91, of Gravette, died May 24, 2010, in Gravette.

She was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Sterling, Kan., to the late James Mann and Clara Young Lakey. She graduated from John Brown University in 1967 and taught Head Start at Sulphur Springs, and then taught elementary school in Gravette for 15 years. Following her retirement, she was active in the Senior Bowling League in Rogers. She earned her yellow belt in Taekwondo.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Honderich of Gravette and Robert Honderich, of Gravette; three daughters, Judy Roberson of Oxford, N.C., Linda Martin of Baldwin City, Kan., Petite Parker of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Charles Lakey, of Gentry, Herb Lakey, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service willbe held at a later date for family members.

Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Millie M. Keller

Millie M. Keller, 51, of Gentry died May 28, 2010, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

She was born Oct. 25, 1958, in St. Paul, Minn., to Michael and Martha Rose Stephanie Merden.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Keller; two brothers, Marvin and Melvin; five sisters, Marlene, Margie, Myra, Marsha and Michelle.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Carl Palmer officiating.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Springdale.

Harry Melvin Jr.

Harry Melvin Jr., 88, of Decatur, died May 26, 2010, at Bradford House in Bentonville.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1922, in West Frankfort, Ill., to Harry Melvin Sr. and Lena Sarah Maddox Melvin. He graduated from Thompsonville High School in Thompsonville, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Aretta Irene Jackson on Dec. 27, 1945. He was ordained with Illinois District of the Assemblies of God and served as pastor for 55 years with Assembly of God. He was Pastor Emeritus of the Bella Vista Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, infant brother Ross, Troy and Carl; and sister, Violet Broski.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aretta Melvin, of Decatur; one son, H. Roland Melvin and wife, Cathy, of West Frankfort, Ill.; one daughter, Joy Tharp and husband, Bob, of Decatur; one foster son, Cecil Brasfield, of Illinois; two brothers, Denzil Melvin, of West Frankfort, Ill., Bill Melvin, of West Frankfort, Ill.; two sisters, RosalieWilliams, of Carmi, Ill., Fern Morris, of Madisonville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 30, at the Bella Vista Assembly of God Church, Bella Vista, with Clarence English, Mark Kelly and James Longmate officiating. Burial was at East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort, Ill.

Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home of Bella Vista.

Juanita Nelda Merkley

Juanita Nelda Merkley, 83, of Gravette, died May 27, 2010, at Ozark Community Hospital in Gravette.

She was born April 14, 1927, in Naperville, Ill., to Fred and Viola Holle Riese. She was a member of The Church of God Holiness in Gentry.

Survivors include two sons, David William Merkley and wife Shelly of Evanston, Wyo., and Daniel W. Merkley and wife Jeannie of Gravette; a daughter, Joy Castillo and husband Frank of Los Angeles; a sister; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

Randall Leon Ramsey

Randall Leon Ramsey, 85, of Colcord, Okla., died May 26, 2010, at Grove Nursing Home in Grove, Okla.

He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Row, Okla., to Walker and Levy Howerton Ramsey. He was a member of the Army 82nd Airborne Division and was self-employed in construction in Benton County.

Survivors include a son, Danny Ramsey and wife Jennifer of Colcord; two daughters, Sheryl Ahrens and husband Larry, and Diana Pike and husband Rick, all of Colcord; two brothers; 10 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services wereMay 29 at Row Cemetery in Colcord.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Samuel Franklin Rice

Samuel Franklin “Frank” Rice, 58, of Rogers died May 26, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Wagoner, Okla., to Earl Melton and Virginia Darlene Thornburg Rice. He worked for Heartland Painting as an estimator.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Rice; three daughters, Heather Scott and husband Tony of Bethel Heights, Rebekah Coats and husband Dylan, and Candice Rice, all of Springdale; a son, Jason Rice and wife Kourtney of Lawton, Okla.; four stepdaughters, Janalynn Watt of Massachusetts, Melissa Spriggs and husband David of Fairland, Okla., Arin Jones of Sand Springs, Okla., and Christy Jones of Yukon, Okla.; a stepson, James Watt III, of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother; two sisters, Sue Church of Gentry and Carolyn Church of Siloam Springs; six grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Services were at New Life Tabernacle in Siloam Springs on May 28, 2010, with Tim Estes and Terry Presley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Sue E. Woods

Sue E. Woods, 59, of Rogers died May 25, 2010.

She was born Nov. 7, 1950, in Rochester, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brink.

Survivors include two daughters, Danae Glover of Rogers and Angie Grimsley of Big Lake, Minn.; three sons, Chris Behrens of Winona, Minn., Jason Behrens of Arcadia, Wis., and Charlie Behrens; two sisters; and 10 grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

Pasilous “Rusty” Matthew Uselman

Pasilous “Rusty” Matthew Uselman, 82, of Heber Springs, died May 29, 2010, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab in Siloam Springs.

Born Sept. 21, 1927 in Norwalk, Wisc., he was the son of Pasilous Carl Uselman and Grace (Briskie) Uselman. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Teri O’Neil; one brother, Austin Uselman; and one sister, Marion Campfield.

Survivors include one son, Michael Uselman of Gentry; three daughters, Deborah Bell of Riverside, Calif., Michelle Koski and husband Bruce of Siloam Springs, Cherie Landwehr and husband Shawn of St. Cloud, Minn.; six grandchildren, one greatgrandchild; two brothers, Carlton Uselman and wife June of Minnesota, John Uselman and wife Adaline of Washington; and two sisters, Jeanette Barta and husband William of Fayetteville, Pat Uselman of Minnesota.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 4, at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, with Paul Fagan officiating. Burial will follow.

Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
