Beal, Van Sickle to wed

Shasta Roann Beal and Scott Gordon Van Sickle both of Arvada, Colo., plan to marry at 6 p.m., July 1, at Stonebrook Manor in Thornton, Colo.

The bride is the daughter of Bob and Peggy Beal of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of Beverly Beal of Gravette and the late LeRoy Beal, the late Marge Beal, and the late Charley and Leona Knox.

She is a physician assistant at Rocky Mountain Scoliosis & Spine and at Rocky Mountain Pediatric Orthopedics. She received her master's degree in science at Stony Brook University in New York in 2008 and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock in 2004, where she competed in five years of track and field.She is a 1999 graduate of Decatur High School, where she competed in track, basketball, softball and dance.

The groom is the son of Gordon and Nelva Van Sickle, both of Lakewood, Colo. He is the grandson of the late Frank and Kathryn Van Sickle and the late Henry and Kathryn Ten Elshof.

He is a financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual. He is also theassistant track coach for Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics at Colorado School of Mines in 1996 and alsocompeted there in four years of track and field. He is a 1992 graduate of Wheatridge High School, where he competed in track, football, basketball and swimming.
