Report cards and diplomas

Report cards are ready at Gentry High School and can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. Diplomas for the 2010 graduates are also ready to be picked up at the high school.

Limb pick-up

The city of Gentry is having a limb pick-up on Monday, June 21. Tree limbs - up to a maximum of 6-inches in diameter and about 8-feet in length - will be picked up free of charge. Limbs must be curbside Monday morning - the limb truck will be making one pass only.

SAC bake sale

Gentry Senior Activity Center is having a bake sale on Friday, June 18, starting at 9 a.m. Baked goods include pies, cakes, cookies, candy, bread, cinnamon rolls and many other miscellaneous treats. The fund-raiser proceeds help with the senior meal program.

Free gospel concert

Gentry United Methodist Church, located at First and Collins Streets in Gentry, will be hosting a free live gospel concert, featuring Leroy and Johnetta Bilby, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. All are welcome and invited to attend.

Free summer meals at the school

Gentry Public Schools will be serving free breakfast and lunch to children, ages 18 and under, through July 30. Children do not have to be Gentry students to participate in the meal program. They can be from other districts or visiting relatives from out of the area. Adults may eat with the children for $3 per meal. Meals will be served in the Intermediate School Cafeteria, located at 302 West Second Street in Gentry. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m., Monday through Friday. Class of ‘73 info needed

Addresses and contact information are needed for the Gentry High School Class of 1973 to make a contact list for the September all-school reunion. Anyone with addresses and contact information for 1973 graduates is asked to e-mail Marla Feemster England at mengland@ arvest.com.

School Choice applications

The Gentry Public School District will receive Public School Choice applications until June 30. An information sheet and an application may be downloaded at www.gentrypioneers.com or picked up in person at the superintendent’s office during office hours.

Driver safety program

A driver safety program sponsored by AARP, will begin from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Total Life Community Center, south of Gentry on Arkansas Highway 59. The classes are designed to assist those over 55 in becoming better drivers by providing useful safety tips to compensate for age-related changes. A $14 fee to cover the cost of materials is required. AARP members who provide their membership number qualify for a $2 discount. Completion of the course may qualify drivers for an auto insurance discount. For more information, call Dick Conrey at 524-5029 or Eddie Greenhaw of Farmers Insurance at 736-8707.
