Highfill Receives Fire Dept. Grant; Other Cities May Qualified For $$

The Highfill Fire Department received a $50,000 rural services block grant which will purchase 23 sets of turn-out gear for the Highfill Fire Department. Governor Mike Beebe made the presentation in Little Rock, one of the 12 grants to rural departments totaling almost half a million dollars. Incorporated towns and unincorporated communities in rural areas with less than 3,000 population that are 51% or above on the low-to-moderate income scale are eligible to apply for the grants through their mayor or county judge.
