To all you Daddies out there, “Happy Father’s Day”. Most any male can be a father but it takes a real man to be a Daddy.

Monday, June 21, is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. Enjoy all those daylight hours.

I received my 5-year certificate from Dollar General this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Spears have returned home after a visit in Houston, TX, with their daughter and family. They attended the graduation of their grandson.

There was a good turnout for the runoff election held on Tuesday.

Wanda Trembly has been in Denton, TX, to visit family and attend her granddaughter’s graduation.

Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peterson who were recently married.

Sympathy to the Thomas family. The family has ties and is well-known in the Hiwasse area.

Sympathy to the Curtis family. They formerly lived in Hiwasse and have family in the area.

Sympathy to the Bellino family. Ann was known for her book mending.

Maxine Holloway is spending a few days with her sister in Mulberry, AR.

I have heard stories of how the old-time hoboswould leave a secret mark on a house where they were treated well, as a sign for those who followed after them. The stray animals must have my house well marked.

Jake Carver started his summer vacation with visits to the doctor. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Lamarise Henry and her daughters DaleLynn Carrier and Donnely Swatzell are in Mesa, AZ, where they met her other two daughters for a motherdaughter vacation.

Those having lunch with me on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier and Lamarise Carrier.

Novella Carlton has had cousins visiting this week. David and Olle Diamond from Columbia, MO, and Juanita Polston from Ulm, MT, came to see her on Wednesday. The Diamonds left Friday and Juanita flew out from XNA Saturday evening. Vernon Funk visited with them Friday morning.

Thursday evening Novella and Juanita went to Farmington to see Autumn Gregg play ball and Friday evening they attended music on the square in Bentonville.

June 16, 1806, a total solar eclipse was observed from California to Massachusetts.
