Reunion For Children’s Home Residents Planned By Former S.S. Resident

— A former resident of Sulphur Springs, Sarah Hudson Pierce is author of a book, “Turley Children’s Home Stories”, and will host a reunion and book signing June 19 at 1 p.m. at the Delta Cafe in Tulsa, OK.

Pierce was born in 1948 at the Gladys Duffy house in Sulphur Springs and went to school in Southwest City and Noel. She lived in a “wonderful foster home” in Grove before going tothe Turley Children’s Home which later closed.

Her book is an attempt to make contact with children who lived at the home in the 1960s. It includes a collection of first person stories from many residents.

Each attending member at the dinner hour signing at the cafe will reminisce and those who have stories in the book will receive complimentary copies. Additional copies will beavailable.

Reunion members will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the flagpole at McClain High School in Tulsa followed by a visit to the Turley Women’s Correctional Center which is located on the site of the old Turley Children’s Home.
