Applications accepted for Barbecue pageants

DECATUR — Pageant coordinators are taking applications for the 57th Annual Decatur Barbecue Festival tiny-tot and queen contest.

The contests will be held in Veterans Park on the evening of August 6.

The queen contest is open to girls between the ages of 15 and 19. Thetiny-tot contest is open to girls and boys ages 4 to 6.

Queen contestants will contend in an interview, sportswear and formal wear competition, according to organizer Shanna Tucker. Queen contestants will go on stage at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and tiny-tot contestants will go on stage at 6:30 p.m.

The entry deadline forthe pageants will be July 30. Tucker encourages contestants to enter as soon as possible. Contestants will need to submit their applications by July 28 to have their pictures featured in the first edition of the new Westside Eagle Observer.

Applications can be picked up at the Decatur State Bank and are also available online at www.decaturstatebank.net.
