— A Gentry man received multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital by air ambulance after his motorcycle collided with a car entering Arkansas Highway 59 on Sunday afternoon.

According to police reports, Jose Serna, 38, of Gentry, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Arkansas Highway 59 at 3:15 p.m. Sunday when a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Angelena Sheckler, 18, of Colcord, Okla., turned northbound onto the highway from Fowler Street.

The motorcycle collided with the car in the inside southbound lane, according to police. Serna was thrown across the roadway and received multiplebroken bones and other injuries, police said.

Gentry police, fire and emergency medical personnel responded to the accident, as well as a Siloam Springs ambulance and an Air Evac helicopter. Serna was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., where he was reportedly in serious but stable condition, according to police.

Sheckler was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Excessive window tinting may also have been a factor in preventing Sheckler from seeing the oncoming motorcycle, according to police.

An unidentified female family member of Serna, not involved in the accident but arriving at the scene afterward, was reportedly transported by the Siloam Springs Ambulance, possibly in labor.
