Police make DWI arrests at safety checkpoint

— Gentry police arrested a number of intoxicated drivers in connection with a safety checkpoint along Gentry Blvd. on June 5 and 6.

According to police reports, Salvador Mendez of Siloam Springs was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol late on June 5.

During the early morning hours of June 6, Cainan Gregrich of Gravette was arrested and charged forbeing under the influence of drugs after police allegedly noted the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle.

Michael Gray of Gentry was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol late on June 6 after he was stopped for failing to use a turn signal and subsequently failed field sobriety tests.

Some juveniles, too, were arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the safety checkpoint, according to police.
