UA Co-op Extension Service Schedules Growers Workshop

— The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service Food and the state Agriculture Department will host workshops across the state to address concerns of specialty crops farmers who market produce to the public.

“Growers attending the workshops will learn how to identify potential food safety risks and take action to reduce them ” said Dr.

Elena Garcia, extension fruit specialist for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. “They will also learn about the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009, the proposed Food Safety Modernization Act 1, and get tips on how to develop a food safety plan on the farm and conduct food safety assessments.”

A workshop will be held in Fayetteville at the Food Science Building on the Uof A campus Monday, July 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. The workshop is open to the public. Seating is limited.
