Off The Cuff

— America pauses this week end to celebrate the birth of our nation. What a momentous achievement put together by a group of men who had foresight and wisdom to create what can be termed the greatest governmental achievement in this, the history of mankind.

It was, and is, an achievement of which we can all be proud. And one which we should celebrate. Not just with fireworks. And picnics. And lazing around in the hammock. But celebrate by renewing our faith in our country. Pledging within ourselves the will and determination to insure that our cherished values and ideals remainconstant..

We owe much to those who argued - yes, they argued and debated and compromised - as the system developed and continued to develop. The principles and values have remained virtually unchanged, though challenged throughout the generations.

What of us? We must continue to be vigilant. And strong, as we hand the reins to subsequent generations. We must do no less.

P.S. Be sure and fly your flag on the Fourth. That takes so little effort. It’s the least thing any of us can do.
