Kids Learn At Goat Showmanship Clinic

GRAVETTE — Almost 20 4-H youth attended a Goat Showmanship Clinic held last Saturday at the farm of John and Cheryl Pickering near Maysville. The Pickerings raise Boer Show Goats.

Jim Misseldine, from Marion, Texas, presented a power-point talk to the children and their parents involving how to select animals, how to care for them, groom them and show them in competition.

The demonstration was followed by hands-on showmanship techniques at the Pickerings’ arena. Youth from Jay, Fayetteville, Gentry, Bentonville and other nearby towns attended.

Attending were Chance Billups, Jesse Burke, Dalton Cook, Jordon Cook, Rendi Dalrymple, Jaslyn Dalrymple, Maci Davis, Jacob Etchison, Ryan Greenlee, Brandon Greenlee, Mattie Haynes, Andrew Lindsay, Karlie Lindsay, Brooke Pidgen, Megan Pidgen, Taylor Rhodes, Ashton Yarbrough and Kendall Yarbrough.
