Shooting Fireworks Is Legal On Only Two Days In Gravette

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

— Gravette residents are reminded that discharge of fireworks inside the city limits is prohibited except during certain hours and only on two designated days.

Approved dates for discharging fireworks are July 3 and July 4 and only between the hours of noon and midnight. And the ordinance setting the restrictions also states, “The fire chief shall have the authority to prohibit the use of fireworks on those dates based on fireconditions.” The ordinance also prohibits the discharge of bottle rockets, skyrockets, Roman candles or any firework “that is mounted to and fires on a stick.” Selling fireworks inside the city limits is also prohibited.

Violation of the ordinance, which was enacted in February, 2006, is a misdemeanor “and upon conviction there shall be a fine imposed not to exceed $500.”
