Wednesday, March 3, 2010

— The Maysville Extension Homemakers Club met February 25 in Nikki Crawley’s home. We didn’t have a business meeting in December but enjoyed the “get together” and gift exchange in Marvin and Bert Ballmann’s home.

Twelve members and two guests, Pam Phillips and Mrs. Singleton, were present. The business meeting was called to order at 1 p.m. by president Orpha Wardlaw. Melinda Crawley led the group in singing “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”. We pledged allegiance to the American flag. Jewel Lukens read inspirational poems entitled “Think It Over” and “Would I Be Called a Christian?”.

Nikki presented the lesson on “Making Your Own Mixes”. She and some helpers made up several samples of various recipes. Each one present received a copy of directions for 31 mixes.

Nikki also showed thecultural art item which was a package of the mix and directions with decorations of various kinds for a nice gift. She says you can save a lot on the cost as well as time in preparing the food.

Reports of volunteer hours in community service were turned in to the secretary. Katherine Tucker read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report.

It was voted to buy a bulletin board for community use to post dates and information on meetings, For Sale signs, wanted items, etc.

Reports were given on the use and maintenance of the building.

The quarter package was drawn by Bert Ballmann and brought by Jewel Crawley.

Our next meeting will be March 25. Jewel Crawley will be hostess, provide a lesson and give a cultural art example.
