Newspaper office hours

Regular office hours at the Gentry news office of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC are limited to make it possible for staff to be out covering news and events. Regular hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Staff members will be in and out of the office at other times, but calling ahead to 736-2822 or 233-0081 is recommended. Subscription and advertising assistance is also available by calling the Siloam Springs office at 524-5144.

Class of 1910 Photos and Information

Anyone with old photographs or information about living relatives of graduating students from the Gentry High School Class of 1910 is asked to contact Martha Hawkins at the Gentry High School Library, or call her at 736-2667. The information is needed in preparation for the centennial graduating class this year.

GHS Athletic Booster Club

The Gentry High School Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., March 8, in the high school’s home economics class room.

Talbot Library and Museum Book Fair

Talbot Library and Museum, 500 S. Colcord Ave, Colcord, Okla., will be hosting a book fair with surplus books for sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13. Hundreds of old and new books - genealogy, local history, Cherokee research, and county and family histories from many states will be offered. Some books are one- copy-only, rare and collectible. Gentry City Council

The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month. The Gentry Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Gentry School Board

The Gentry School Board holds regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the school district board room.

Springtown Council

The Springtown Council meets at 6 p.m., on the second Tuesday of each month, in the new community building.

Town of Highfill

Highfill’s next council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, at the Highfill Community Building. The planning commission meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Lions Club Pancake Supper

The 37th Annual Lions Club Pancake Supper will be held at the Gentry High School Cafeteria from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25. Tickets - $5 for adults and $3 for children under 6 - are available from any Lions Club member and at the Courier-Journal office.

GHS Band Boosters

The Gentry High School Band Boosters meet at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the high school band room.

Library speaker and book signing

A brown-bag "Books-Sandwiched-In" speaker and book signing event is set for 12 noon, Monday, March 15, at the Gentry Public Library. Christian-fiction novelist Terrye Robins will be the featured speaker. For more information, call the library at 736-2054.

Gentry Senior Activity Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.
