Mildred Martin

Mildred Martin, 78, of Gravette, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in Gravette. She was born May 18, 1931, in Stinnett, TX, the daughter of William Edward and Lydia Bryan Mizar.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and volunteer for many organizations including Feed My Sheep, Angel Food Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Care and Share and the First Christian Church Breakfast Program. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Maysville E. H. Club and a leader for 4-H Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Martin.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Martin of Baldwin City, KS, and Donald Martin, Sr. of Decatur; one daughter, Deborah Hones of Alexander, AR; one sister, Eva Norris of Denver City, TX; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, February 27, at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Gravette with Rev. A. P. Vohs officiating. Burial was at Benton County Memorial Park under direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Feed My Sheep food pantry, First Christian Church in Gravette.

Aileen Scantlin

Aileen Scantlin, 79, of Owasso, OK, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, in a Tulsa hospital. She was born in Gravette, AR, the daughter of Elmer and Lucy Garman.

Mrs. Scantlin graduated from Gravette High School. She was a long-time resident of Owasso where she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Scantlin.

Survivors include one son, Anthony, and two daughters, Brenda and Nurena; two brothers, Howard Garman of Phoenix, AZ, and Wayne Garman of Gravette; one sister, Mary Jones of Gravette; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held February 25 in Owasso with burial at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso under direction of Moore’s Funeral Home.

Alfred Dixon

Alfred “Al” Dixon, 81, long-time area barber of Southwest City, Mo., died Saturday, February 27, 2010, in a Joplin, MO hospital.

A visition was to be held Tuesday evening at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City with a private burial at Southwest City cemetery.
