No-Till Equipment Available For County Farmers

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

— Benton County Conservation District reminds farmers that the district provides no-till drills for establishing grasses and legumes in row crops.

The equipment, which is available for lease, includes a three-row bermuda grass planter and an eight-foot pasture renovator. The district also has three ten-foot drills, one of which is located in Pea Ridge, the others in Gravette and Decatur area.

Since 1987 the equipment has been available for county farmers. During the 23-year span, almost 50,000 acres have been planted using the no-till drills.

“No-till farming saves time, fuel and wear and tear on tractor/equipment in producing pastures, rowcrops and winter cover crops without destroying permanent vegetative cover,” a spokesperson for the District said.
