Child solicited

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

— Police are looking for a middle-aged male of small build who may have attempted to abduct a child from Gentry City Park on Sunday afternoon.

A man with dark brown hair, possibly Hispanic or native American, allegedly attempted to solicit a young boy to help him look for a lost puppy in the park, Gentry Police Chief Keith Smith said.

The man addressed the boy by name, but the boy’s mother did not recognize the man, Smith said. The man left while the boy’s mother gathered her children into her car to leave.

The event was not promptly reported to police, Smith said, but he encourages parents to always use caution and report any suspicious activities to the police department immediately.

Anyone with information may call the Gentry Police Department at 736-8400.
