Girls 2 for 3 in first week

— The Lady Pioneers seemed to be off to a slow start in their first game this season when they suffered a crushing 12 to 0 loss against the Rogers Lady Mounties on March 1.

The Lady Pioneers just couldn’t get their bats going. Two hits - a single by Sarah Hogan and a single by Josie Graves-Long - but both failed to bring a run across the plate.

Pitcher Eryan Beck took the loss.

The junior varsity team fared a little better, scoring one run, with a final score of 5 to 1 in favor of Rogers.Pitching for the JV team was Sarah Hogan.

But the scrappy Lady Pioneers didn’t stay down long after their loss to Rogers. In the second game of the season, the Lady Pioneers took on the Siloam Springs Lady Panthers at Siloam Springs and came away with a big win.

With 10 hits scoring 11 runs and also playing a strong game defensively, the Lady Pioneers dominated the field and came away with a 11-1 victory on Thursday. Eryan Beck earned the win.

The Lady Pioneer junior varsity team gave up eight runs and lost of 8-6. SarahHogan was pitching for Gentry.

On Friday, the Lady Pioneers picked up a hardfought win against the Springdale Lady Bulldogs at home, with a score of 8 to 7.

Sarah Hogan led the team with two hits, including a single followed by Lady Bulldog errors which allowed her to score the final and winning run of the game.

Pitcher Eryan Beck threw seven strike outs in the game. Despite four Lady Pioneer errors early, the strong defense rallied to help secure the win.

The junior varsity team also won by a score of 13-4, with Mataya Snell pitching for the Lady Pioneers.
