AERT Opens New Recycling Facility At Watts, Oklahoma

— A new plastics recycling plant in Watts, OK, is now in operation.

The $11.5 million plant is owned by Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies (AERT) and employs 45 workers. As many as 200 possibly may be hired when the facility is fully operational.

The 74,000 square foot plant recycles post-industrial waste and other unwanted plastics and turns them into a usable plastic product or pellet. Examples of their use could be to makegrocery or garbage bags.

The plant is capable of sorting different kinds of plastics. It also uses a washing process to clean the product. AERT operates a plant at Lowell which does not wash its materials.

Construction of the plant, which is located on a 40 acre tract that was once a hog farm, began in November, 2008. Existing water storage capacity for those farms is being utilized. A well supplies the water which is then recycled.
