Citizens Are Advised To Lock Vehicles

— Gravette Police Department advises local citizens to “Lock Your Cars”.

A series of car thefts have occurred in the neighborhood of Second Avenue S.W. in recent days and numerous items were taken.

“The thefts did not involve breaking into the vehicles,” a spokesperson said. “The vehicles were not locked. Persons should be aware of the pilfering and lock their cars.”

Items taken mostly included little items lying in the car seat, such as a makeup case, gloves, a small amount of change and even a Bible which was in a case that appeared to be a purse.

The largest item taken was a GPS unit.

According to the police several of the items were recovered roadside or in nearby ditches.
