Decatur man pleads guilty

DECATUR — Juan Carlos Lezama, 53, of Decatur pleaded guilty to sexual indecency with a child, a class D felony.

Lezama was arrested on Aug. 27, after Decatur police received a report concerning Lezama sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl.He pleaded guilty under a plea agreement Janette McKinney, his attorney, reached with deputy prosecutor Bonnie Bridges.

Circuit Judge Dave Clinger accepted the plea agreement and Lezama’s guilty plea. Lezama was placed on state-supervised probation for four years. He was also sentenced to 120 days in the Benton County Jail, but he had served 196 days while awaiting trial.

Lezama must register as a sex offender, complete the sex offender treatment program at Ozark Guidance in Springdale and pay $2,120 in court costs.
