National Guard Information Is Stolen

— A National Guard database hard drive containing information on all soldiers who served in the Arkansas National Guard since 1991 is missing, according to information from Camp Joseph T. Robinson.

A complete list is being compiled and all affected will be notified by first class mail. About 35,000 former members of the Guard are involved.

The device is said to contain names, Social Security numbers and other information which potentially could place the affected soldiers at risk for identity theft.

Soldiers are advised to be vigilant and carefully monitor bank statements, credit card and other financial transactions since November, 2009, when the device was last used, the notice said.

The three major credit bureaus which may assist in attaching fraud alerts to individual credit reports are:

Equifax, 800-525-6285; Experian, 888-397-3724; TransUnion, 800-680-7289.
