Report unsubstantiated

— Reports of an attempted child abduction from the parking lot of Gentry Post office could not be substantiated, according to Gentry police sergeant Dennis Edwards, but the case is still under investigation.

Police received a report of a possible abduction attempt of a three year-old boy from a car seat in his mother’s vehicle while she quickly ran inside the post office to check for mail on Thursday afternoon. When she returned to her car, she found her son crying and saying a man pulled him by the arm and it scared him, a police department press release said.

Neither the mother nor others in the parking lot witnessed an abduction attempt, according to Edwards.

The mother described a middle-aged white man wearing a dark ball cap and a gray zip-up jacket in the parking area at the time.

Anyone with possible information regarding the report is asked to call the Gentry Police Department at 736-8400.
