Lions Club Pancake Supper

The 37th Annual Lions Club Pancake Supper will be held at the Gentry High School Cafeteria from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25. Tickets - $5 for adults and $3 for children under 6 - are available from any Lions Club member or at the door.

Support Group to meet

A men’s and women’s support group for drug and al cohol dependency will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Gentry Senior Activity Center, 121 E. Main Street, next-door to the Gentry Public Library. The meetings are open to all. For more information, call Kim at 233-1391.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Chamber of Commerce Easter egg hunt will be held at 2 p.m., April 3, in the Gentry City Park. Many prizes, including bicycles, will be given away.

Highfill Easter Egg Hunt

Highfill will hold an Easter egg hunt at the Highfill City Park at 1 p.m., April 3. For more information, call Jeanetta Evans at 736-5711.

NWA Riding Club play days set

The NWA Riding Club will have its 2010 season opener of play-day rodeo at 6 p.m. on April 10, and every other Saturday night until Nov. 1, at the enclosed arena at the Luca-Don Equestrian Center, 23236 Arkansas Highway 12, west of Gentry. Ribbons will be awarded nightly, with an awards banquet at the end of the season. A point system will be in effect. There will be five age classes, with events including poles, barrels, flags, speed and mutton busting. Memberships are $30 per year for a family. There is no charge for nightly events. The NWA Riding Club is a non-profit, non-alcoholic and drug-free environment for families. For more information, call 752-3466 or 899-3259.

Bean Bag Challenge

The Gentry Senior Center is issuing a challenge to any groups or organizations that would like to enter the SAC bean bag baseball tournament from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Carl Gym. The Gentry Fire Department and the Gentry Police Department have accepted the challenge. Eight teams are needed. Spectators too may come out and root for their favorite team. The cost will be $3 per adult and $2 per student. Proceeds raised will be used for the senior meal program. For more information or to compete in the tournament, call Jackie Bader at 736-0378.

Gentry City Council

The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month. The Gentry Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Gentry School Board

The Gentry School Board holds regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the school district board room.

Springtown Council

The Springtown Council meets at 6 p.m., on the second Tuesday of each month, in the new community building. Town of Highfill Highfill’s next council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 8, at the Highfill Community Building. The planning commission meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 27.

Gentry Senior Activity Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Pickin’ in the Park

Pickin’ in the Park is held at 6:30 p.m., the last Saturday of each month, at the Gentry Senior Activity Center. Musicians and music lovers are invited to come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music.
