Highfill Extension Club hears about Vitamin D

— Eleven members of the Highfill Extension Club met at 1221 E. Main Street in Gentry, on March 15.

Members will be attending a display of crafts at 10 a.m., March 26, held at the Extension Auditorium. The public is welcome.

The lesson this month was on Vitamin D. Because of the extensive use of sun screen, many Americans now have alow amount of the vitamin. Members learned to see that their doctor is checking Vitamin D levels in their blood work. Deficiencies can affect cholesterol, some forms of cancer, hypertension and osteoporosis. Members heard how important Vitamin D is. The problem is that it is found in very few food sources.

The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m., April 19, at 1221 East Main Street. Visitors are always welcome.
