Election Commission Reverses Decision For Early Voting In Gravette

— The Benton County Election Commission announced Friday it will not open a satellite early voting location in Gravette.

The location the commission was going to use in Gravette was booked for the period it would have been needed for early voting.

E. J. Miller, commission chairman, said the site will be ready for early voting in the November general elections.

The commission will still open sites in Bella Vista and Prairie Creek for early voting in the May primary elections, Miller said.

Voters can cast ballots early at those two sites in addition to County Clerk’s office locations in Bentonville, Rogers and Siloam Springs.

The satellite locations will be open for early voting May 3-15. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, said Helen Peltier, electioncoordinator. Satellite offices will not be open May 17 for early voting.

Machine Problems

Commission officials also discussed Friday the new electronic voting machines received March 12.

Of the 50 machines received, five have problems. Also six batteries used to power the machines are not charging.

Problems range from paper jams to printers not staying on to printer doors being jammed, Peltier said.
